Do You Know Your Genotype? It Could Save Your Future Child’s Life
In commemoration of World Sickle Cell Day (June 19), HealthMedic Support Initiative hosted a powerful awareness campaign at Benue State University, Makurdi, focused on sickle cell education, genotype awareness, and preventive healthcare.
💬 “I had no idea how important my blood group was until today,” — one student shared during our Q&A.
The event featured:
✅ Expert-led lectures on sickle cell disease, prevention, and genetic compatibility
✅ Free blood group testing for 60+ students
✅ A safe, engaging space for over 100 young people to learn and ask questions
Our goal? To empower youth with knowledge that influences healthy marital and reproductive decisions.
Because prevention starts with awareness.
🙌 Huge thanks to our speakers, volunteers, and partners who made this possible.
