Campaign Update: Empowering Women and Girls to Rise Against Digital Violence

On the 6th of December, we moved into the community with one mission - to empower women and girls with the knowledge, confidence, and tools to stand strong against digital violence. It was more than a sensitization campaign; it was a life-changing experience that opened eyes, strengthened voices, and transformed mindsets.

During the session, we broke down the hidden forms of digital abuse that many women silently endure -cyberbullying, online blackmail, non-consensual sharing of images, impersonation, grooming, and digital stalking. Real-life examples were shared to help participants connect the lessons to everyday scenarios, making the message practical, relatable, and deeply understood.

We didn’t stop at awareness:
✔️ We taught women and girls their digital rights.
✔️ We demonstrated how to report abusers on various online platforms.
✔️ We provided verified reporting channels, including cybercrime units, helplines, platform-based reporting links, and community focal persons.
✔️ We equipped participants with safety tips—how to secure accounts, recognize red flags, protect private information, and respond when threatened online.

The discussions were powerful. Many participants shared personal stories, while others expressed relief at finally receiving clarity on issues they had silently battled. By the end of the campaign, women and girls were not just informed—they were confident, empowered, and ready to take control of their digital spaces.

This outreach is reshaping how women engage online, ensuring that digital spaces become safer, healthier, and more dignified for every girl and woman. We partnered with @FOMWAN Benue State, Federation Of Muslim Women of Nigeria.
