HMSI Empowers Over 70 Young Girls in Wadata, Makurdi with Menstrual Hygiene Education

In commemoration of Menstrual Hygiene Day, HealthMedic Support Initiatives conducted a sensitization outreach on menstrual hygiene for teenagers and young adults in Wadata community, Makurdi, Benue State.

The session focused on educating participants about key aspects of menstrual health including how to properly manage menstrual cramps, how often sanitary pads should be changed to prevent infections, and other essential medical concerns related to menstruation. The goal was to break the stigma around menstruation, foster open conversations, and empower young girls with accurate health information and the dignity they deserve.

We sincerely appreciate the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) and its President, Hajiya Jamila, for their vital support and collaboration in mobilizing and organizing the participants for this important initiative.

At the end of the session, over 70 girls received free sanitary pads and were encouraged to become ambassadors of menstrual hygiene in their communities.

Together, we are creating a healthier and more informed generation, one community at a time.
